Dr. Brent Bjornsen grew up in the Hudson Valley in New York. His love for sports began there and brought him to Gordon College where he attained an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts with a focus in Print Media. While the goal was to pursue a career in sports journalism, life often reveals new and exciting challenges when they are least expected. He and his wife, Nisse, moved to Kansas where they lived for six years and he completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. In 2014, they, and their two new children, moved to Phoenix where they eagerly welcomed cactus’ and copious sunshine. Dr. Bjornsen completed his pediatric training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program. There, he learned to appreciate every aspect of pediatric care. However, he also developed a particular interest in pediatric sports medicine. Thus, in 2017, the Bjornsen family again moved, this time to Houston. There, Dr. Bjornsen completed a fellowship in Pediatric Sports Medicine at the Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. During his time in Houston, he cared for a wide range of populations, including young recreational athletes all the way to Division 1 collegiate athletes.Perhaps spurred by a way too close experience with Hurricane Harvey, the Bjornsens decided to come back to the Valley in 2018 where he has practiced both general pediatrics and pediatric sports medicine. Dr. Bjornsen is excited to join the MVP Kids Care team and serve the community that has welcomed and fostered his family. Dr. Bjornsen lives with his wife (Nisse), daughter (Kysse), and son (Kyrre), and their dog Addison.
